Signs of Cold Stress in Ghost plant
Symptoms
Ghost plant does not withstand very low temperatures well. It flourishes optimally when temperatures range from 65℉ to 75℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, its leaves will show water-soaked decay and droop. For minor frost damage, initial signs might be absent, but within a week, leaves will noticeably wilt and eventually detach.
Solutions
Cut away the frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate it indoors to a warm spot or construct a temporary greenhouse for thermal defense. When indoors, position it near a south-facing window for sufficient light. If using a makeshift greenhouse, ensure good air circulation to prevent rot from stagnant air.
Signs of Heat Stress in Ghost plant
Symptoms
In summer, Ghost plant should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant will enter dormancy, and it becomes more susceptible to rot in humid conditions.
Solutions
Prune off any dry and decayed portions. Transfer the plant to a location with partial shade, shielding it from direct sun exposure during the midday and afternoon hours. Cease watering until the weather cools down.
