Signs of Cold Temperatures in Sand cherry
Symptoms
Sand cherry tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, while no immediate winter changes might be apparent, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of Warm Temperatures in Sand cherry
Symptoms
In summer, Sand cherry should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, tips could dry and shrivel, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Cut off any sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade fabric for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
