Signs of Cold Stress in Chenille plant
Symptoms
Chenille plant cannot withstand extremely low temperatures. It flourishes optimally when temperatures range from 65℉ to 75℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, its leaves will show waterlogged decay and drooping. With minor frost damage, initial signs might be absent, but within a week, leaves will noticeably droop and eventually shed.
Solutions
Prune away any frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm setting or construct a temporary greenhouse for cold defense. When bringing the plant inside, select a spot near a south-facing window for sufficient light. If using a temporary greenhouse, ensure good air circulation to prevent plant deterioration from inadequate airflow.
Signs of Heat Stress in Chenille plant
Symptoms
In summer, Chenille plant should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant enters dormancy and is more susceptible to rot in humid conditions.
Solutions
Remove any dry and decaying portions. Relocate the plant to a semi-shaded spot, shielding it from direct sun during midday and afternoon. Cease watering the plant until the weather cools down.
