Signs of Cold Stress in Southern cattail
Symptoms
Southern cattail tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 70℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, while winter changes might not be obvious, spring may see reduced or absent sprouting.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that did not sprout.
Signs of Heat Stress in Southern cattail
Symptoms
In summer, Southern cattail should be maintained below 86℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, the plant's foliage might lighten, curl, become prone to sunburn, and in severe instances, the entire plant could wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
