Signs of Cold Stress in Japanese tree lilac
Symptoms
Japanese tree lilac is highly resilient to cold, but winter temperatures should remain above 32℉. If temperatures fall below this point, while no immediate changes might be apparent in winter, branches could become fragile and dry by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
During spring, remove any dead branches that have not developed new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Japanese tree lilac
Symptoms
Japanese tree lilac does not tolerate high temperatures well. When temperatures surpass 75℉, it might shed a considerable number of leaves, and in extreme cases, the entire plant could wilt and perish.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
