Signs of Cold Stress in Cider gum
Symptoms
Cider gum tolerates cool temperatures moderately well, flourishing optimally when temperatures exceed 50℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 45℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, foliage may begin to sag. Minor cases allow recovery, but severe instances lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before future cold spells, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or burlap, and build a windbreak to shield it from harsh winds.
Signs of Heat Stress in Cider gum
Symptoms
In summer, Cider gum should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, leaves lighten in color, tips may dry and shrivel, foliage might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Cut off any sunburnt or desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or deploy a shade cloth. Water the plant during morning and evening hours to maintain soil moisture.
