Signs of Cold Stress in Pyrethrum
Symptoms
Pyrethrum tolerates cold well and grows optimally when temperatures are above 60℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 40℉, while winter changes might not be obvious, spring may see reduced or absent sprouting.
Solutions
Remove any unsprouted sections in spring.
Signs of Heat Stress in Pyrethrum
Symptoms
In summer, Pyrethrum should be kept below 70℉. When temperatures exceed 80℉, plant leaves may lighten, curl, become sunburned, and in severe cases, the whole plant can wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
