Signs of Cold Stress in Chinese artichoke
Symptoms
Chinese artichoke exhibits moderate resilience to cool temperatures and flourishes optimally when temperatures range from 68℉ to 77℉. Throughout the winter, it should be maintained above 50℉. Should the temperature drop below 32℉, foliage may darken. In extreme instances, water-soaked tissue death, wilting, and drooping might occur, with leaves progressively turning brown.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm setting or construct a temporary greenhouse for protection against cold. When bringing the plant inside, select a spot near a south-facing window to ensure adequate sunlight. If light is insufficient, consider using supplementary illumination.
Signs of Heat Stress in Chinese artichoke
Symptoms
In summer, Chinese artichoke should be kept below 77℉. When temperatures surpass 86℉, the plant's development decelerates, its leaves lighten in hue, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to an area offering shade from the afternoon sun. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
