Symptoms
Date palm thrives in warmth and cannot withstand cold. Optimal growth occurs when temperatures exceed 86℉. In winter, temperatures should remain above 68℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, foliage may lose color. Following frost damage, leaves progressively turn brown or black, exhibiting signs like wilting and drooping.
Solutions
Remove frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate indoors to a warm setting for cold protection. Position the plant near a south-facing window to ensure sufficient light. Furthermore, avoid placing it near heating units or AC vents to prevent excessive air dryness.
Signs of Heat Stress in Date palm
Symptoms
In summer, Date palm should be maintained below 104℉. When temperatures surpass 122℉, leaves become paler, and the plant is more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated areas. Transfer the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
