Signs of Cold Stress in Flaky juniper
Symptoms
Flaky juniper exhibits exceptional cold hardiness, yet winter temperatures should ideally remain above 20℉. Should the temperature fall below this point, while no immediate changes might be apparent in winter, branches could become fragile and desiccated by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
During spring, remove any lifeless branches that have not developed fresh foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Flaky juniper
Symptoms
Flaky juniper does not tolerate elevated temperatures well. When temperatures surpass 75℉, it can lead to considerable leaf shedding, and in extreme instances, the entire plant might wilt and perish.
Solutions
Remove any sun-scorched and dried-out sections. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or employ a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
