Signs of Cold Stress in Swamp mahogany
Symptoms
Swamp mahogany tolerates cool temperatures moderately well, flourishing optimally above 60℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 55℉. If temperatures drop below 50℉, leaves might begin to sag. Mild cases allow recovery, but severe cold causes wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before further cold exposure, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from harsh winds.
Signs of Heat Stress in Swamp mahogany
Symptoms
In summer, Swamp mahogany should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, leaves lighten in color, tips may dry and shrivel, leaves might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering shade from the midday and afternoon sun, or deploy a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
