Signs of Cold Temperatures in Texas rainbow cactus
Symptoms
Texas rainbow cactus flourishes in warm conditions and cannot withstand cold. Optimal growth occurs when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, the plant may weaken, droop, and become susceptible to root decay. Minor frost damage might not show immediate signs, but the plant will gradually decline after about a week.
Solutions
Remove frost-damaged sections, checking for root rot. If roots are rotted, trim them and propagate the plant from cuttings. Immediately relocate indoors to a warm spot, positioning it near a south-facing window for ample light. If natural light is insufficient, provide artificial lighting.
Signs of Hot Temperatures in Texas rainbow cactus
Symptoms
In summer, Texas rainbow cactus should be kept below 85℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, the plant stops growing, loses moisture, wilts, and is more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Cut away any sunburned or decayed portions. Protect the plant from direct afternoon sun until it recovers and resumes growth. For plants with root rot, cease watering until new roots appear.
