Signs of Cold Stress in Pepper
Symptoms
Pepper tolerates cool temperatures moderately well, flourishing optimally between 70℉ and 85℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 65℉. If temperatures drop below 55℉, foliage may darken. Severe cases can lead to water-soaked decay, wilting, drooping, and a gradual browning of leaves.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm area or construct a temporary greenhouse for protection from cold. When indoors, position it near a south-facing window for sufficient light. Supplement with artificial lighting if natural light is inadequate.
Signs of Heat Stress in Pepper
Symptoms
In summer, Pepper should be kept below 85℉. When temperatures surpass 90℉, plant development slows, leaves lighten in color, and susceptibility to sunburn increases.
Solutions
Remove any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the afternoon sun. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
