Signs of Cold Temperatures in Island barberry
Symptoms
Island barberry tolerates cold well and grows optimally when temperatures are above 50℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 40℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, while no immediate changes might be visible in winter, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of High Temperatures in Island barberry
Symptoms
In summer, Island barberry should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's leaves may lighten in hue, tips might dry and shrivel, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and dried sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
