Signs of Cold Stress in Western vervain
Symptoms
Western vervain tolerates cool conditions moderately well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 65℉. In colder months, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, its foliage might begin to sag. Minor cases allow for recovery, but severe instances lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before subsequent cold exposure, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from chilly gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Western vervain
Symptoms
In summer, Western vervain should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures rise above 90℉, the leaves' color fades, leaf tips may dry and shrivel, leaves might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Cut off any parts that are sunburned and desiccated. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
