Signs of Cold Stress in Cocoa tree
Symptoms
Cocoa tree thrives in warmth and cannot withstand cold. Optimal growth occurs above 68℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 59℉. Below 50℉, leaves may lose color. Post-frost, they progressively turn brown or black, exhibiting wilting and drooping.
Solutions
Remove frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate indoors to a warm area for protection. Position the plant near a south-facing window for sufficient light. Furthermore, avoid proximity to heaters or AC vents to prevent excessive air dryness.
Signs of Heat Stress in Cocoa tree
Symptoms
In summer, Cocoa tree should be maintained below 80℉. When temperatures surpass 86℉, leaves lighten in hue, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Prune off sun-scorched and desiccated portions. Transfer the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun. Hydrate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
