Signs of Cold Stress in Spatterdock
Symptoms
Spatterdock exhibits significant cold hardiness, but winter temperatures should remain above 50℉. Should the temperature fall below this point, while no immediate changes might be apparent in winter, a reduction in sprouting or complete lack of sprouting could occur in spring.
Solutions
During spring, remove any sections that have not successfully sprouted.
Signs of Heat Stress in Spatterdock
Symptoms
Spatterdock does not tolerate elevated temperatures well. When temperatures surpass 85℉, its development ceases, and it becomes more prone to decay.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or employ a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
