Signs of Cold Stress in Bigelow's nolina
Symptoms
Bigelow's nolina tolerates cold well and grows optimally when temperatures exceed 70℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 55℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, while no immediate changes might be seen in winter, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Bigelow's nolina
Symptoms
In summer, Bigelow's nolina should be kept below 85℉. When temperatures go above 95℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in color, tips could dry and shrivel, and it becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade fabric for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
