Signs of Cold Stress in Desert tobacco
Symptoms
Desert tobacco tolerates cool conditions moderately well, flourishing optimally when temperatures exceed 70℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 55℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, foliage may begin to sag. Minor cases allow recovery, but severe instances lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before subsequent cold exposure, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and erect a windbreak to shield it from chilling gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Desert tobacco
Symptoms
In summer, Desert tobacco should be maintained below 85℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, leaves may lighten in color, tips might dry and shrivel, foliage could curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched or desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or deploy a shade cloth. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to ensure soil moisture.
