Signs of Cold Stress in Hairy indigo
Symptoms
Hairy indigo tolerates cool temperatures moderately well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 75℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 60℉. If temperatures drop below 50℉, foliage may begin to sag. Minor cases can recover, but severe instances lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before subsequent cold exposure, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from cold gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Hairy indigo
Symptoms
In summer, Hairy indigo should be maintained below 85℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, leaf coloration fades, leaf tips may dry and shrivel, leaves might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
