Signs of Cold Stress in Spider hibiscus
Symptoms
Spider hibiscus favors warm conditions and cannot withstand low temperatures. It flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 60℉. If the temperature drops below 50℉, foliage may lose some color. Following frost damage, the leaves progressively turn brown or black, and signs like wilting and drooping might appear.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm area for protection from cold. Position the plant near a south-facing window to ensure sufficient light. Furthermore, avoid placing it near heating units or AC vents to prevent overly dry air.
Signs of Heat Stress in Spider hibiscus
Symptoms
In summer, Spider hibiscus should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the leaves' color fades, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the intense midday and afternoon sun. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
