Signs of Cold Stress in Cascade bilberry
Symptoms
Cascade bilberry tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 50℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 40℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, even if no immediate changes are apparent in winter, branches might become fragile and parched by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
In spring, remove any lifeless branches that have not developed new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Cascade bilberry
Symptoms
In summer, Cascade bilberry should be kept below 70℉. When temperatures surpass 75℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in hue, their tips could dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and desiccated. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade fabric to provide cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
