Signs of Cold Stress in Apple
Symptoms
Apple tolerates cold well and grows optimally when temperatures are above 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 32℉. If temperatures drop below -15℉, while winter effects might be unnoticeable, branches can become brittle and dry in spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
During spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Apple
Symptoms
In summer, Apple should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, tips could dry and shrivel, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
