Signs of Cold Stress in Dyer's woad
Symptoms
Dyer's woad tolerates cold well and grows optimally when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 55℉. If temperatures drop below 40℉, while winter changes might be unnoticeable, spring may see reduced or absent sprouting.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that did not sprout successfully.
Signs of Heat Stress in Dyer's woad
Symptoms
During summer, Dyer's woad should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, curl, become prone to sunburn, and in severe instances, the whole plant could wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and desiccated. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
