Signs of Cold Stress in Stiff sunflower
Symptoms
Stiff sunflower tolerates cold well and flourishes best when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, while no immediate changes might be visible in winter, there could be reduced or absent sprouting in spring.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that did not sprout successfully.
Signs of Heat Stress in Stiff sunflower
Symptoms
During summer, Stiff sunflower should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, curl, become susceptible to sunburn, and in extreme cases, the whole plant may wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
