Signs of Cold Stress in Walking-stick orchid
Symptoms
Walking-stick orchid flourishes in warm conditions and cannot withstand cold. Optimal growth occurs when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 60℉. If temperatures drop below 50℉, leaves will show widespread water-soaked damage, wilting, and drooping.
Solutions
Remove any frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate indoors to a warm spot for cold protection. Position the plant near a south-facing window for sufficient light. Also, avoid placing it near heating or AC vents to prevent overly dry air.
Signs of Heat Stress in Walking-stick orchid
Symptoms
In summer, Walking-stick orchid should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 80℉, plant growth stops, and leaves progressively wilt. It becomes more prone to root rot and easily sunburns in direct sun.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a shaded area during midday and afternoon. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain moisture for both the plant and its surroundings.
