Signs of Cold Stress in Armand clematis
Symptoms
Armand clematis tolerates cold well and flourishes best when temperatures are above 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 45℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, while no immediate changes might be seen in winter, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
In spring, remove any dead branches that haven't produced new leaves.
Signs of Heat Stress in Armand clematis
Symptoms
In summer, Armand clematis should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures go above 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in color, tips could dry and shrivel, and it becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Cut off any sunburned and dried sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
