Signs of Cold Stress in Common Christmas orchid
Symptoms
Common Christmas orchid flourishes in warm conditions and cannot withstand cold. Optimal growth occurs when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 60℉. Below 55℉, leaves will show widespread water-soaked decay, wilting, and drooping.
Solutions
Remove frost-damaged sections. Promptly move indoors to a warm spot for cold protection. Position the plant near a south-facing window for sufficient light. Avoid placing near heaters or AC vents to prevent air from becoming too dry.
Signs of Heat Stress in Common Christmas orchid
Symptoms
In summer, Common Christmas orchid should be kept below 75℉. Above 80℉, growth stops, and leaves progressively wilt. It becomes more prone to root rot and easily sunburns in direct sun.
Solutions
Prune off sunburned and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot shaded from midday and afternoon sun. Water in the morning and evening to maintain plant and environmental humidity.
