Signs of Cold Stress in Western poison ivy
Symptoms
Western poison ivy tolerates cold well and flourishes when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, while winter changes might not be obvious, spring may see reduced or absent sprouting.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that have not sprouted.
Signs of Heat Stress in Western poison ivy
Symptoms
In summer, Western poison ivy should be maintained below 75℉. When temperatures go above 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, curl, get sunburned, and in severe cases, the whole plant could wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
