Signs of Cold Stress in Cape-ivy
Symptoms
Cape-ivy tolerates cool conditions moderately well, flourishing best when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 40℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, foliage may begin to sag. Minor cases allow recovery, but severe instances lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before future cold spells, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from chilly gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Cape-ivy
Symptoms
In summer, Cape-ivy should be maintained below 77℉. When temperatures rise above 85℉, leaf coloration fades, leaf tips might dry and shrivel, leaves may curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or deploy a shade cloth for cover. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
