Signs of Cold Stress in Coastal indigo
Symptoms
Coastal indigo tolerates cool conditions moderately well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 60℉. If the temperature drops below 50℉, its foliage might begin to sag. Minor cases allow for recovery, but severe instances lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before subsequent cold exposure, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or burlap, and erect a windbreak to shield it from harsh winds.
Signs of Heat Stress in Coastal indigo
Symptoms
In summer, Coastal indigo should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the leaves' color fades, their tips may become parched and shriveled, they might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or deploy a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
