Signs of Cold Stress in Cape ivy
Symptoms
Cape ivy tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 60℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 40℉, while immediate winter changes might not be obvious, reduced or absent sprouting could occur in spring.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that have not sprouted.
Signs of Heat Stress in Cape ivy
Symptoms
In summer, Cape ivy should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, curl easily, suffer sunburn, and in severe instances, the whole plant could wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Prune off any sunburned and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade fabric. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
