Signs of Cold Stress in Long strap fern
Symptoms
Long strap fern tolerates cold moderately and flourishes best when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 60℉. If the temperature drops below 45℉, foliage may begin to sag. Mild cases can recover, but severe cases lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before subsequent cold exposure, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from cold gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Long strap fern
Symptoms
In summer, Long strap fern should be kept below 80℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, leaves lighten in color, tips may dry and shrivel, leaves might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Cut off any sunburned and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
