Signs of Cold Stress in Brazilian vervain
Symptoms
Brazilian vervain tolerates cool conditions moderately well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 65℉. In colder months, it needs to be maintained above 60℉. If the temperature drops below 50℉, its foliage might begin to sag. Minor cases can lead to recovery, but severe instances will cause leaves to wither and eventually shed.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before subsequent exposure to low temperatures, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or burlap, and build a windbreak to shield it from cold gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Brazilian vervain
Symptoms
In summer, Brazilian vervain should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the foliage color fades, leaf tips might dry and shrivel, leaves could curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Cut off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or deploy a shade cloth for cover. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
