Signs of Cold Stress in Cranberry
Symptoms
Cranberry exhibits remarkable cold hardiness, yet winter temperatures must remain above 32℉. Should temperatures fall below this point, while no immediate winter damage may be apparent, branches can become fragile and desiccated by spring, with no new growth appearing.
Solutions
During spring, remove any lifeless branches that have not developed fresh foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Cranberry
Symptoms
Cranberry does not tolerate elevated temperatures well. When temperatures surpass 75℉, it can lead to substantial leaf shedding, and in extreme instances, the entire plant may wilt and perish.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and dried sections. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or utilize a shade fabric for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
