Signs of Cold Stress in Green cockscomb
Symptoms
Green cockscomb cannot withstand very low temperatures. It flourishes optimally when temperatures range from 65℉ to 75℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, its leaves will show water-soaked damage and droop. For minor frost damage, initial signs might be absent, but within a week, leaves will severely wilt and eventually detach.
Solutions
Cut away the frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm spot or construct a temporary greenhouse for cold defense. If moved indoors, select a spot near a south-facing window for sufficient light. If using a makeshift greenhouse, ensure good air circulation to prevent rot from stagnant air.
Signs of Heat Stress in Green cockscomb
Symptoms
In summer, Green cockscomb should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, the plant will become dormant and is more susceptible to rot in humid conditions.
Solutions
Discard any dry and decayed portions. Transfer the plant to a location with partial shade, shielding it from direct sun during midday and afternoon. Cease watering the plant until temperatures decrease.
