Signs of Cold Stress in Indian rushpea
Symptoms
Indian rushpea tolerates cool temperatures moderately well, flourishing optimally when temperatures exceed 68℉. In colder months, it needs to stay above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 40℉, foliage might begin to sag. Minor cases can be reversed, but severe exposure leads to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before subsequent cold spells, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or burlap, and build a windbreak to shield it from chilly gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Indian rushpea
Symptoms
In summer, Indian rushpea should be maintained below 86℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, leaves may lighten in color, tips might dry and shrivel, foliage could curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or deploy a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
