Signs of Cold Stress in Upland Cotton
Symptoms
Upland Cotton tolerates cold well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 70℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 60℉. If the temperature drops below 50℉, while winter may show no immediate effects, branches can become brittle and dry by spring, preventing new growth.
Solutions
In spring, remove any lifeless branches that have not developed new foliage.
Signs of Heat Stress in Upland Cotton
Symptoms
During summer, Upland Cotton should be maintained below 90℉. When temperatures surpass 100℉, the plant's leaves might lighten in hue, tips may dry and shrivel, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or employ a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
