Signs of Cold Stress in Mediterranean cabbage
Symptoms
Mediterranean cabbage tolerates cold well and grows optimally when temperatures are above 60℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 40℉, while winter changes might not be obvious, spring may see reduced or absent sprouting.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that did not sprout.
Signs of Heat Stress in Mediterranean cabbage
Symptoms
In summer, Mediterranean cabbage should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures exceed 85℉, leaves may lighten, curl, suffer sunburn, and in severe cases, the plant may wilt and dry out completely.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
