Signs of Cold Stress in Japanese lawngrass
Symptoms
Japanese lawngrass tolerates cold well and flourishes when temperatures exceed 75℉. In winter, it needs to stay above 60℉. If the temperature drops below 50℉, while no immediate winter changes might be apparent, spring may see reduced or absent sprouting.
Solutions
In spring, remove any sections that have not sprouted.
Signs of Heat Stress in Japanese lawngrass
Symptoms
In summer, Japanese lawngrass should be maintained below 85℉. When temperatures go above 95℉, the plant's leaves might lighten, curl easily, get sunburned, and in severe cases, the whole plant can wilt and dry out.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned and dried. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
