Signs of Cold Stress in Water gum
Symptoms
Water gum tolerates cool conditions moderately well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 40℉, foliage may begin to sag. Minor cases can recover, but severe instances lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before future cold spells, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from chilly gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Water gum
Symptoms
In summer, Water gum should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, leaves lighten in color, tips may dry and shrivel, foliage might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Prune off any sunburned or desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
