Signs of Cold Stress in Rose myrtle
Symptoms
Rose myrtle tolerates cool conditions moderately well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 60℉. In colder months, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 41℉, its foliage might begin to sag. Minor cases can lead to recovery, but severe instances will cause leaves to wither and ultimately detach.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before subsequent cold exposure, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from chilly gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Rose myrtle
Symptoms
In summer, Rose myrtle should be kept below 77℉. When temperatures rise above 86℉, the foliage color fades, leaf tips might become parched and shriveled, leaves could curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
