Signs of Cold Stress in Watercress
Symptoms
Watercress exhibits fair resilience to cool conditions, flourishing optimally between 50℉ and 77℉. In colder months, maintain temperatures above 40℉. Should temperatures drop below 32℉, foliage may darken. Severe instances can lead to water-soaked decay, wilting, drooping, and a gradual browning of leaves.
Solutions
Remove sections damaged by frost. Promptly relocate indoors to a warm setting or construct a temporary greenhouse for protection from cold. When indoors, position near a south-facing window for adequate light. Supplement with artificial lighting if natural light is insufficient.
Signs of Heat Stress in Watercress
Symptoms
In summer, Watercress needs to be kept below 77℉. When temperatures surpass 86℉, plant development slows, leaf coloration fades, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the afternoon sun. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
