Signs of Cold Stress in Ostrich fern
Symptoms
Ostrich fern exhibits exceptional cold hardiness, but winter temperatures should remain above 40℉. Should temperatures fall below this point, while no immediate changes might be apparent in winter, a reduction in spring sprouting or even a complete lack of new growth could occur.
Solutions
During spring, eliminate any sections that have not produced new shoots.
Signs of Heat Stress in Ostrich fern
Symptoms
Ostrich fern does not thrive in elevated temperatures. When the temperature surpasses 75℉, its development ceases, and it becomes more prone to decay.
Solutions
Remove any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or employ a shade cloth for cover. Irrigate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
