Signs of Cold Stress in Tugela cliff-kalanchoe
Symptoms
Tugela cliff-kalanchoe cannot withstand extremely low temperatures. It flourishes optimally when temperatures range from 65℉ to 75℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 60℉. If the temperature drops below 50℉, its leaves will show water-soaked decay and droop. For minor frost damage, initial signs might be absent, but within a week, leaves will severely wilt and eventually detach.
Solutions
Cut away the frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm spot or construct a temporary greenhouse for cold defense. When bringing it inside, select a spot near a south-facing window for sufficient light. If using a temporary greenhouse, ensure good air circulation to prevent plant decomposition from inadequate airflow.
Signs of Heat Stress in Tugela cliff-kalanchoe
Symptoms
In summer, Tugela cliff-kalanchoe should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 80℉, the plant will enter dormancy, becoming more susceptible to rot in humid conditions.
Solutions
Remove any dry and decayed portions. Relocate the plant to a partially shaded location, shielding it from direct sun exposure during midday and afternoon. Cease watering the plant until the weather cools down.
