Signs of Cold Stress in Confederate rose
Symptoms
Confederate rose tolerates cool conditions moderately well and flourishes optimally when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, its foliage might begin to sag. Minor cases allow for recovery, but severe instances lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before subsequent cold spells, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from chilly gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Confederate rose
Symptoms
In summer, Confederate rose should be kept below 77℉. When temperatures surpass 86℉, the leaves' color fades, their tips might dry and shrivel, they could curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from the midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
