Signs of Cold Stress in Fire-star orchid
Symptoms
Fire-star orchid flourishes in warm conditions and cannot withstand cold. Optimal growth occurs when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 60℉. If temperatures drop below 50℉, leaves will show widespread waterlogging, decay, and wilting.
Solutions
Remove damaged, frost-affected sections. Promptly move the plant indoors to a warm spot for cold protection. Position it near a south-facing window for sufficient light. Also, avoid placing it near heating or AC vents to prevent air from becoming too dry.
Signs of Heat Stress in Fire-star orchid
Symptoms
In summer, Fire-star orchid should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 80℉, plant development stops, and leaves progressively wilt. It becomes more prone to root decay and can easily suffer sunburn from direct sun exposure.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-damaged and desiccated portions. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun. Hydrate the plant in the morning and evening to maintain moisture for both the plant and its surroundings.
