Signs of Cold Stress in Tropical chickweed
Symptoms
Tropical chickweed tolerates cool conditions moderately well, flourishing optimally when temperatures exceed 65℉. In winter, maintain temperatures above 50℉. If temperatures drop below 32℉, leaves may begin to sag. Mild cases can recover, but severe instances lead to wilting and eventual leaf drop.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Before subsequent cold exposure, cover the plant with materials like non-woven fabric or cloth, and build a windbreak to shield it from cold gusts.
Signs of Heat Stress in Tropical chickweed
Symptoms
In summer, Tropical chickweed should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures surpass 85℉, leaves lighten in color, tips may dry and shrivel, leaves might curl, and the plant becomes more prone to sunburn.
Solutions
Prune off any sun-scorched and desiccated sections. Relocate the plant to a spot offering protection from intense midday and afternoon sun, or use a shade cloth for cover. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
