Signs of Cold Stress in Cucumber
Symptoms
Cucumber tolerates cool conditions moderately well, flourishing optimally when temperatures range from 70℉ to 85℉. In colder months, maintain temperatures above 60℉. If temperatures drop below 50℉, foliage may darken. Severe cases can lead to water-soaked tissue death, wilting, drooping, and a gradual browning of leaves.
Solutions
Remove any parts damaged by frost. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm spot or construct a temporary greenhouse for protection from cold. When indoors, position it near a south-facing window for adequate light. If natural light is insufficient, consider using artificial grow lights.
Signs of Heat Stress in Cucumber
Symptoms
In summer, Cucumber should be kept below 85℉. When temperatures surpass 95℉, plant development slows, leaf color fades, and it becomes more prone to sun damage.
Solutions
Remove any parts that are sunburned or dried out. Relocate the plant to an area offering protection from the afternoon sun. Water the plant in the morning and evening to maintain soil moisture.
