Signs of Cold Stress in Silver dollar plant
Symptoms
Silver dollar plant does not tolerate extremely low temperatures well. It flourishes optimally when temperatures range from 65℉ to 75℉. In winter, it needs to be maintained above 50℉. If the temperature drops below 32℉, its leaves will show signs of waterlogging, tissue death, and drooping. For minor frost damage, initial symptoms might be absent, but within a week, leaves will noticeably droop and eventually shed.
Solutions
Prune away any frost-damaged sections. Promptly relocate the plant indoors to a warm setting or construct a temporary greenhouse for cold defense. When bringing it inside, select a spot near a south-facing window to ensure sufficient light. If using a makeshift greenhouse, ensure proper air circulation to prevent plant deterioration from inadequate airflow.
Signs of Heat Stress in Silver dollar plant
Symptoms
In summer, Silver dollar plant should be kept below 75℉. When temperatures rise above 85℉, the plant will enter a period of inactivity, and it becomes more susceptible to rot in humid conditions.
Solutions
Discard any dry or decayed portions. Transfer the plant to a location with partial shade, shielding it from direct sun exposure during the midday and afternoon hours. Cease watering the plant until temperatures decrease.
